HISTORY
Sojourner Truth (1797-1883)

Sojourner was born in New York, her brith name was Isabella Baumfree. She was freed by the New York Emancipation Act of 1827. She traveled around the U.S. spreading the truth to her people. So she changed her name to Sojourner Truth. Sojourner was a nurse for the Union Army in the Civil War. After the war she continued her mission of spreading the truth. Sojourner died at the age of 86 in Michigan on November 26, 1883.
